The project is implemented in selected few tanks on a pilot basis. The rationale for pilot initiative is hat the pilot tanks will be 3 to 4 months ahead of project implementation and will complete pre-planning and planning phase of the tank project cycle before first batch implementation. The lessons learnt in pilot initiative will guide the project in effective implementation in the subsequent batch.

Accordingly pilot initiatives are taken up in 26 tanks in 23 mandals of 13 districts. The tanks are identified on the basis of the strong presence of a Support Organization and their experience of tank management.

Currently the Support Organizations are nearing completion of pre-planning and planning phase and ready for implementation phase. The list of tanks and the Support Organisations facilitating the implementation are presented below.
